Employee Empowerment Free Online Research Papers Employee empowerment: A strategy and philosophy that enables employees to make decisions about their jobs. This term is used to express the ways in which non-managerial staff can make autonomous decisions without consulting a boss/manager. It is the state of feeling self-empowered to take control of ones own destiny. These self-willed decisions can be small or large depending upon the degree of power with which the company wishes to invest employees. Why apply Empowerment When employees feel as though they have choice and can make direct decisions, this does often lead to a greater feeling of self-worth. By offering employees choice and participation on a more responsible level, the employees are more invested in the company, and view themselves as a representative of such. Techniques of Empowerment One easy way to begin employee empowerment in the workplace is to install a suggestion box, where workers can make suggestions without fear of punishment or retribution. However, managers must then be willing to read and consider suggestions and also hold a once monthly meeting open to employees where all suggestions are addressed. One method used to empower workers is the use of work teams. Such teams are collections of employees empowered to plan, organize, direct and control their own work. The other method for empowerment is to change the team’s overall method of organizing. The basic pattern is for an organization to eliminate layers from its hierarchy, thus become much more decentralized. Power, responsibility and authority are delegated in the hands of those who actually do it. Ways to make empowerment successful Empowerment will enhance organizational effectiveness only if certain conditions exist. The organization must be sincere in its efforts to spread power and autonomy to lower levels of the organization. The organization must be committed to maintaining participation. Employee empowerment of any form can only work when managers are willing to be open to new ideas and strategies. The workers must truly believe that they and their managers are working together in their joint best interests. The organization must be systematic and patient in its efforts to empower workers. Turning over too much control too quickly can spell disaster. Finally the organization must be prepared to increase its commitment to training. Employees given more freedom in how they work will quite likely need additional training to help them exercise that freedom most effectively. Disempowerment Disempowerment means lack of empowerment while the term â€Å" disempowerment† represents a concept that describes a faulty or impaired process of empowerment. Eylon and Bamberger (2000) described disempowerment as an opposing construct to empowerment. It is associated with reduced feelings of self-efficacy and levels of performance.. The negative affective response that stems from disempowering acts could manifest itself in psychological withdrawal, fear, feelings of incompetence and lack of self-efficacy, and feelings of displeasure and personal offenseall of which can diminish response strength and distract from work performance. Learn the Conjugations of Pluerer (to Cry) in French The French verb  pluerer  means to cry. When you want to say he is crying in the present tense or we cried in the past tense, the verb must be conjugated. A quick lesson will introduce you to the simplest forms of  pluerer, which you can study and memorize for use in your conversations. The Basic Conjugations of  Pleurer French verb conjugations may not be most French students favorite things to learn, but when you have a verb like pleurer, it is just a little easier. Thats because this is a regular -er verb, meaning it uses a very common conjugation pattern. If you have studied other verbs such as  quitter  (to leave) or  prà ©parer  (to prepare), you can use what you learned for those and apply it here. The key is to find the verb stem (or radical), which is  pleur-. To that, you will add different endings to form each conjugation. The endings you need are found in the chart. All you have to do is pair the appropriate subject pronoun to the tense of your subject. For example, I am crying is  je pleure  and we cried is  nous pleurions. To form it, you will need to conjugate avoir  (an auxiliary verb) into the present tense. The past tense is implied by the  past participle  pleurà ©, which is attached to the end. For example, I cried is  jai pleurà ©Ã‚  and we cried is  nous avons pleurà ©. More Simple Conjugations of  Pleurer Among the other simple conjugations you may need are the subjunctive and the conditional. The former draws into question the act of crying. Outside school, the boys reading interests tend to change when they get older; their interest is more on fantasy than realism and they are engaged more in non-fiction genres than girls. William Shakespeare Essay In the Elizabethan time period 1589-95 Sir William Shakespeare a playwright wrote the play Romeo and Juliet. The play is often thought of as a love story however it is actually far more concerned with violence, death and fate than it is with love. Romeo and Juliet is highly regarded as one of Shakespeares best plays, even as one of the worlds finest love stories. However the play has many other themes of conflict, violence and inevitable tragedy. The play title immediately introduces the theme of love, and the not the darker side of the play, as the name Romeo and Juliet refers to two lovers and nothing else. The play also includes the constant mentioning of the inevitable tragedy. In this essay I will be looking at the themes of forbidden love, family feuds, and revenge that come between the relationship of Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet to answer the question of how violence and conflict are introduced by finding evidence to support each theme. I will then conclude by answering the question as a whole. Shakespeare was born in 1564 in Stratford-Upon-Avon. He married Anne Hathaway in 1882 and had two children. Hamnet and Judith. William Shakespeare produced most of his known work between 1590 and 1613. Shakespeare used a variety of sources for his dramas. The story of Romeo and Juliet was by all accounts taken from the poem, The tragic history of Romeus and Juliet written by Arthur Brooke, though the original story may be derived from the Greek author, Xenophon. The play was published in quarto form in 1597 so it is safe to assume that the play may have been written a couple of years earlier, during the first stage of his career. The Quartos contained single plays and were sold for a sixpence each. The play is unusual in that it is a tragedy, for the bulk of his writing in the early years were comedies and histories. Romeo and Juliet marry at a young age of 14 and 15, which links to the time period of the fifteen hundreds as young marriages were not uncommon. In Romeo and Juliet Shakespeare includes the theme of revenge to give the play action and tragedy. Romeo blames himself for the death of Mercutio, and is resentful of Tybalts insults; he fears that his love for Juliet has weakened his courage. After witnessing Mercutios death, Romeo vows to slay Tybalt. And red-eyed fury may be my conduct now! Romeo says here how he is filled with anger and wants revenge, and he may behave with his anger now. Red-eyed, shows he is filled with anger and rage and that he is ruling with his heart and not his logic. Either thou, or I, or both must go with him. Romeo angrily says here that they will fight and one of them or both of them will die and join Mercutio. Romeo thinks this should happen as he has lost a friend and will fight, no matter what the outcomes is, to avenge Mercutio. Both outcomes of the fight will create a tragedy because Romeo will either die or be banished. Romeos revenge leads to a violent and tragic end to Tybalts life. Violence is introduced through Romeos hunt for revenge. Another example of revenge is when Tybalt spots Romeo at Juliets marriage party. He wants revenge and goes in search of Romeo to fight him. Boy shall not excuse his injuries that thou hast done me, therefore turn and draw. Tybalt wants to cause Romeo pain for intruding at Juliets party and will fight others to get to Romeo. This is shown when Tybalt ten kills Mercutio, which leads onto the next scene of revenge. This is also an example of the theme of inevitable tragedy. Shakespeare weaves inevitable tragedy into many acts in Romeo and Juliet. Shakespeare shows this immediately in the prologue as well as saying that the theme of inevitable tragedy will continue as the play goes on. A pair of star crossed lovers, (the phrase puts forward the fact that the two lovers are doomed from the start. The phrase means love is blind. This shows how the two lovers are in love, and this makes them do things that they would normally suggest other people to do otherwise.)

Love and Death in Cocteau's Film Orpheus In Jean Cocteau's Orpheus, death is personified through the character of the Princess. The Princess is an extremely powerful figure, although she ultimately succumbs to the power of love. Cocteau uses her actions, clothing, and dialogue to show her as a contradictory mix of being both very powerful, yet still very vulnerable to the power of love. The main tool used by Cocteau to demonstrate this are her actions. Although she claims that she is not allowed to love, she is in fact in love with Orpheus. Through her actions she attempts to bring Orpheus closer to her and hopefully have him fall in love with her too. At the beginning of the movie, they are gathered at the Cafe de Poets. Cegeste is killed, and the Princess demands that Orpheus help get him into the car and to her place. While in the car, he insists on knowing what is going on and where they are going. The Princess is very controlling and forces him to be quiet and listen to the messages being broadcast over the radio. She knows that this is something that Orpheus will be very interested in and can help lure him to her. They arrive at her castle and she is very mysterious. She does not let Orpheus know what is going on, she only lets him see just enough to get him more curious and interested in her. The next morning Orpheus awakes on the side of the road and returns home with the Princess's chauffeur Heurtebise. Here he spends most of his time in the garage listening to more mysterious messages on the car radio. In fact, he is so obsessed with the messages that he completely ignores his wife, and is now more preoccupied with findin g out about the Princess. Orpheus is then summoned by the detective, who wants to interrogat... ...e that give death's orders. Here she is very vulnerable. She cannot lie and must admit that she killed Eurydice and is in love with Orpheus, two punishable offenses. She is a very harsh figure, but love changes her to a more tender tone. She talks with Orpheus telling him that she loves him, and she will do anything to get them back together. Throughout the movie, the Princess's clothes change color. Usually she is wearing black, a sign of death, but sometimes her clothes change to white, a sign of love. This shows how she is vulnerable to love, since death should always be in black. In this film, Cocteau is making the claim that love is more powerful than death. The princess, who represents death, is vulnerable to the power of love. She even ends up breaking the rules of the underworld and getting herself in trouble because she succumbs to the power of love.

The organization chosen for this assignment is Pizza Hut, Pizza Hut was established in 1958 by Frank and Dan Carney, and they started out with a small building on a busy intersection in their home town, and became the largest and most successful pizza restaurant company in the world. For four decades they built a reputation for excellence that earned the respect of their customers and industry experts alike. Pizza Hut, Inc. , a division of Tricon Global Restaurants, Inc., has more than 7,200 units in the U. S. and 3,000 units in more than 86 other countries. Tricon is the parent company to two other segment leaders, Taco Bell and KFC . when combined with Pizza Hut, these organizations make up the world’s largest restaurant group. Pizza Hut offers many different styles of pizzas along with side dishes such as salads, Buffalo wings, pasta, breadsticks, desserts and garlic bread. Pizza Hut’s mission is to become the most favorite’s restaurant all over the world and they indeed are, as long as they continue to meet their customer’s wants. Which for example they can learn through social media cites. And their vision is to reach on the top of the peak to provide best service and taste and to see yum on customers faces. This will take great participation from staff to make happen. And Pizza Hut is trying their best to keep them happy so that they do their jobs to keep customers happy. For example if an employee is doing their job, and making the pizza right, because they feel like they are an asset to the company, then in turn the customer is happy and the company has seen the fruition of their vision, and that is to provide the best service and taste. How does the organization motivate its employees? Describe any programs or methods they use to motivate workers. Pizza Hut motivates its employees by offering rewards and recognitions. The first thing that it offers is what is called the big cheese ward that is a coveted award, and is the highest level of corporate recognition. This award is personally presented by the owner and is a yellow foam rubber wedge of cheese that goes on top of the recipients head. The recipients also receive a photo of the presentation. The second form of an award is a program that recognizes managers, area coaches, and market coaches for their ability to grow Pizza Hut, run great restaurants, develop great teams, and make plans. Rewards include celebration trips for the recipient and guest as well as dinners. There are also are quarterly bonuses awarded to general managers based on the size of the manager’s restaurants and their performance on a variety of measures. Describe the current state of the organization’s workforce dynamic. Is its workforce growing? Is it changing? How is it changing and why? The dynamics at Pizza Hut is very simple, you have young teenagers who work there and are not to bothered about the job which shows in their customer service, the consequences of this changes the dynamics of the environment because it causes the bosses to be more tight on the rules because of the slacking helping hand. There are also many other dynamics in Pizza Hut but not as there would be in a corporation such as oracle. So Pizza Hut also has workers that are older and have families to feed and are more concerned about their jobs this can be seen in the great jobs they do at work. There is also dynamics such as diversity ( population of 66%) that makes up Pizza Hut, one of the many reasons for diversity is for globalization, and leaders realizing that when a company has many different minds making decisions there can be many different ideas and options. The workforce is not growing, and yes, it is changing a great example, for the reason it is changing is because people who are starting to work for Pizza Hut are not teenagers anymore but college educated and adults who running these business and more effectively carrying out their strategies. What are some of the workforce trends that this organization needs to address? What similar organizations can be used as a benchmark? In this question the point is, what within this one specific location are we doing to drive sales up. The answer is the workforce is changing to older more educated employees who care more about their jobs, therefore customer service is at a better quality and customer return causing an increase in sales. A majority of the managers are women and be promoted in the ranks plus a vast majority are diverse, this drives up sales because now the company can go global with out to many issues with relating to other cultures, plus they are now able to reach a market that they were not reaching before. What are some of the industry trends that are affecting the organization overall? Is the industry growing, or declining? When thinking about industry trends, we must consider what all other pizza joints are doing or other restaurant industries are doing to increase their sales. In the following paragraph we will name a few trends the first is the growth of the fast casual segment, which demonstrates consumers who are still focused on price and are willing to pay more for healthier food that they consider to be of better quality. The industry has customized by making healthier pizzas or options on their menus. The second trend is premium speed, this is a tactic to launch healthier more flavorful menu items and employing technology to speed up the dining experience. The third is transparency, this is a new trend where customers are more and more demanding to know the origin of their foods, not only that that though they also are demanding to know how employees are being treated and to know general business practices. The fourth trend is due demographic diligence, and the fifth is technology interface revolution, this is a broad range of ways to enhance the customers experience and to save time and money. Difference in Sunni and Shia Muslims

The difference between Sunni and Shia Muslims is not Islamic beliefs or spiritual differences, but politics. The division of Sunni and Shia Muslims started after the death of the Prophet Muhammad. Sunni Muslims believed that the new leader of the Muslim nation should be elected out of those most capable of the job. Shia Muslims believed that leadership should be passed to his cousin or son-in-law. The leader was elected out of those most capable of the job. Abu Bakr was the first Caliph of the Islamic nation. The word â€Å"Sunni† in Arabic means â€Å"one who follows the traditions of the Prophet. † The word â€Å"Shia† in Arabic means â€Å"a group or supportive party of people. † They are also known as â€Å"followers of the Prophet. † Shias believe that Imams are descendants of the Prophet. Sunnis accept that the first four Caliphs were followers of Mohammad, but do not grant any kind of divinely inspired status to their clerics. Afghanistan is made up of 84 percent Sunnis and 15 percent Shias. Most Pashtuns are Sunni Muslims, while most Hazaras are Shia Muslims. In â€Å"The Kite Runner† Amir and Baba are Sunni Muslims and Hassan and Ali are Shia Muslims. Hazaras are generally Shia Muslims and Pashtuns are generally Sunni Muslims. They have different beliefs but between Amir and Hassan it does not make a difference. Hassan is called derogatory names by Assef and some others because he is a Hazara and a Shia Muslim. Amir is not because he is a Pashtun and a Sunni Muslim.

Electrical Current Definition Electrical current is a measure of the amount of electrical charge transferred per unit of time. It represents the flow of electrons through a conductive material, such as a metal wire. It is measured in amperes. Units and Notation for Electrical Current The SI unit of electrical current is the ampere, defined as 1 coulomb/second.  Current is a  quantity, meaning it is the same number regardless of the  direction of the flow, without a positive or negative number. However, in circuit analysis, the direction of current is relevant. The conventional symbol for current is  I, which originates from the French phrase  intensità © de courant, meaning  current intensity.  Current intensity is often referred to simply as  current. The  I  symbol was used by  Andrà ©-Marie Ampà ¨re, after whom the unit of electric current is named. He used the I symbol in formulating  Ampà ¨res force law in 1820.  The notation traveled from France to Great Britain, where it became standard, although at least one journal did not change from using  C  to  I  until 1896. Ohms Law Governing Electrical Current Ohms law states that the current through a conductor between two points is directly  proportional  to the  potential difference  across the two points. Introducing the constant of proportionality, the  resistance, one arrives at the usual mathematical equation that describes this relationship: IV/R In this relationship,  I  is the current through the conductor in units of  amperes,  V  is the potential difference measured  across  the conductor in units of  volts, and  R  is the  resistance  of the conductor in units of  ohms. More specifically, Ohms law states that the  R  in this relation is constant and is independent of the current. Ohms law is used in electrical engineering for solving circuits. The abbreviations  AC  and  DC  are often used to mean simply  alternating  and  direct, as when they modify  current  or  voltage. These are the two main types of electrical current. Direct Current Direct current (DC) is the unidirectional flow of  electric charge. The  electric charge  flows in a constant direction, distinguishing it from  alternating current  (AC). A  term formerly used  for  direct current  was galvanic current. Direct current is produced by sources such as  batteries,  thermocouples,  solar cells, and commutator-type electric machines of the  dynamo  type. Direct current may flow in a  conductor  such as a wire  but can also flow through  semiconductors,  insulators, or even through a  vacuum  as in  electron or ion beams. Alternating Current In alternating current (AC, also ac), the movement of  electric charge  periodically reverses direction. In  direct current, the flow of electric charge is only in one direction. AC is the form of  electric power  delivered to businesses and residences. The usual  waveform  of an  AC power  circuit is a  sine wave. Certain applications use different waveforms, such as  triangular  or  square waves. Audio  and  radio  signals carried on electrical wires are also examples of alternating current. An important goal in these applications is the  recovery of information encoded (or  modulated) onto the AC signal.
